Romania allocates one of Europe's largest quotas for non-EU workers — over 100,000 new admissions a year — and Indian workers consistently rank among the top nationalities hired. The process is quota-based and predictable when filed correctly.
Step 1: Work Authorisation at IGI
Your company files with the General Inspectorate for Immigration against the annual quota, with proof the role could not be filled locally. Decisions typically land in 4–6 weeks. Filing early in the quota year is the single best way to speed things up.
Step 2: Selection
You interview trade-tested Indian candidates by video during the authorisation window — shipyard welders, construction crews, bakers, hospitality staff.
Step 3: The Long-Stay Employment Visa
Each approved worker applies for the D/AM visa at the Romanian mission in India. With complete dossiers this stage runs 3–5 weeks.
Step 4: Arrival and Residence
Workers fly in staged batches after Indian emigration clearance; the residence permit completes in Romania while they begin work. Total: 1–3 months.
Costs to Budget
- Per-worker recruitment fee (sourcing, trade tests, medicals, documentation)
- IGI and consular fees
- One-way airfare per worker
- Optional accommodation setup — most Romanian employers provide housing, which strongly improves retention
The Agency's Role
A Ministry of External Affairs licensed agency is mandatory on the Indian side. Taha Airwaves prepares dossiers that pass IGI review first time and manages selection through deployment. Details on our Romania hiring page, or request a quotation for your positions.
