Spain's 2025 immigration reform did something rare: it made legal labour migration simpler. For employers, two routes now matter — the shortage-occupation catalogue for year-round roles, and GECCO collective management for seasonal crews.
Route 1: The Shortage Catalogue
Roles listed in the provincial catálogo de ocupaciones de difícil cobertura skip the individual labour-market test. The employer files the work authorisation directly; construction trades, drivers and key hospitality roles feature widely. Authorisation, then the visa at the Spanish mission in India, then deployment: 2–4 months.
Route 2: GECCO Seasonal Programmes
For agriculture above all, GECCO manages collective seasonal hiring with government coordination on both sides — batch approvals, group visa processing, and return-compliance management. Campaigns are planned months ahead on a fixed calendar.
The Steps We Manage
- Route selection and filing strategy per role and province
- Candidate matching, trade testing and video selection
- Consular dossiers and appointment management in India
- Emigration clearance, staged travel and TIE residence-card follow-through
Costs
Per-worker recruitment fee, authorisation and consular fees, airfare; seasonal programmes typically include employer-arranged housing, which we verify.
Getting It Right
Spain rewards employers who pick the correct route and file cleanly — and penalises improvisation with months of delay. Sectors and FAQs on the Spain hiring page; send your roles and provinces and we will confirm the route the same week.
