The Work in UAE

Helper roles are the most common entry point to the UAE for first-time overseas workers, and no prior experience is required. You support skilled trades on site — moving material, mixing, cleaning and assisting masons and carpenters — and many workers use the role to learn a trade and move up at contract renewal. UAE sites enforce a midday summer break by law from mid-June to mid-September.

Day-to-Day Duties

Moving and stacking material to where trades are working
Mixing mortar and concrete for masons and plasterers
Site housekeeping and clearing debris to keep access safe
Assisting with shuttering, scaffolding and rebar handling
Following toolbox talks and site safety instructions daily

No formal experience required
Physically fit for outdoor site work
GAMCA medical clearance
Age 20–40

Questions About This Role

Can I get promoted from helper to a trade?

Yes, and it is common. Workers who show aptitude are often moved to mason, carpenter or steel-fixer roles at contract renewal with a pay increase.

What is the UAE midday break rule?

Outdoor work is prohibited between 12:30pm and 3pm from 15 June to 15 September. Sites adjust hours around it.

Do I need to speak English?

No. Site instructions are usually given in Hindi or Urdu by supervisors on UAE projects with large South Asian workforces.
