The Work in Saudi Arabia
Saudi masonry work is dominated by block-and-plaster on high-rise residential compounds, Vision 2030 civic buildings and villa developments around Riyadh, Jeddah and the Eastern Province. Most sites run on concrete block with cement plaster finishing rather than brick, so employers test specifically for line-and-level block laying and even plaster coats. Summer working hours are shifted — a legally mandated midday break applies from June to September, with hours made up in the early morning and evening.
Day-to-Day Duties
- Laying concrete block to line, level and plumb against marked setting-out
- Mixing and applying cement plaster to internal and external walls
- Building block partitions, parapets and boundary walls to drawing
- Working from scaffold platforms with mandatory harness above 2 metres
- Coordinating with steel fixers and shuttering carpenters on structural pours
Who hires for this role: Large Saudi contracting groups and their subcontractors on government-funded infrastructure and private residential developments.
Eligibility & Requirements
- 2+ years of masonry experience
- Ability to read basic site drawings
- Physically fit, GAMCA medical clearance
- Age 21–45

Do I need a Saudi trade test for masonry?
Yes. Most Saudi employers require a trade test in India before selection — you will be asked to lay a small block section and apply a plaster coat while it is recorded or watched live on video.
What are the summer working conditions?
Saudi law prohibits outdoor work between roughly 12pm and 3pm from mid-June to mid-September. Sites shift to early morning and evening hours during that period.
Is accommodation shared?
Yes — employer-provided camp accommodation is standard, typically 4 to 6 workers per room with kitchen and transport to site included.
