About This Job

The Work in Saudi Arabia

Steel fixing on Saudi projects means large-diameter rebar on raft foundations, columns and post-tensioned slabs for infrastructure packages. Employers look for workers who can read a bar bending schedule and cut, bend and tie to it without constant supervision, because inspection before every concrete pour is strict and rework is expensive. Experience on Gulf megaprojects is valued more than years alone.

Day-to-Day Duties

  • Reading bar bending schedules and cutting rebar to marked lengths
  • Bending and fixing reinforcement for columns, beams, slabs and foundations
  • Tying laps and spacers to specified cover before consultant inspection
  • Working alongside surveyors to confirm setting-out before pours
  • Loading and distributing rebar bundles safely around the site

Who hires for this role: Infrastructure and civil contractors working on transport, utilities and large mixed-use developments.

Questions About This Role

What size rebar will I handle?

Gulf infrastructure work commonly uses 12mm to 32mm bar; heavier foundations may use bundled 40mm. Employers ask about your experience with larger diameters specifically.

Will I need to read drawings?

You need to read a bar bending schedule and follow marked setting-out. Full structural drawing reading is a foreman skill, not required at fixer level.

How is overtime calculated?

Saudi labour law sets overtime at 150% of the hourly rate. Your contract states basic hours; anything beyond is paid at that premium.
