Welding vacancies in Saudi Arabia split into structural work on buildings and plant, and pipeline or pressure work in oil, gas and petrochemical facilities. The second pays considerably more and requires a 6G position test with radiographic inspection of the coupon. Aramco-approved contractors run their own certification on arrival, so your India-side trade test is a screening stage rather than the final word.

Day-to-Day Duties

SMAW and GTAW welding on structural sections, pipe spools and supports
Preparing joints — grinding, bevelling and fit-up before welding
Working to WPS parameters with welds subject to visual and radiographic testing
Rectifying rejected welds identified during NDT inspection
Hot-work permit compliance in live plant areas during shutdowns

Who hires for this role: Industrial services contractors serving refineries and petrochemical plants, plus structural steel fabricators.

Eligibility & Requirements

3+ years welding experience (6G an advantage)
Must clear client trade test
Safety certification preferred
Age 23–45

What is a 6G test and do I need it?

6G is welding a fixed pipe at a 45-degree angle — the hardest standard position. It is required for pipeline and pressure work; structural roles usually test at 3G or 4G.

Will my certificates be accepted?

Indian certificates support your application but Gulf employers almost always re-test on arrival to their own procedure. Genuine skill matters more than paperwork.

Is shutdown work different from regular employment?

Shutdown work is intense — long hours over a fixed 3 to 6 week window with higher overtime. Regular plant maintenance roles are steadier.
