Hire Indian Agricultural & Seasonal Workers

Orchards, soft fruit, greenhouses and mushroom houses all need hands that the Polish countryside no longer supplies. We provide Indian crews on the seasonal permit for harvests and on the type-A permit for year-round work.

Two Calendars, Two Permit Routes

Polish agriculture works to two calendars. Apples, soft fruit and field vegetables follow the season, with a harvest window that cannot move. Mushroom houses, greenhouses, dairy and poultry run every week of the year. Both have relied on workers from Ukraine and other eastern neighbours, and both are now looking further afield, because that supply is no longer large enough on its own.

Each calendar has its own legal route. Seasonal work in the listed agricultural activities runs on the seasonal work permit, issued by the starosta through the district labour office for up to nine months in a calendar year. Year-round farm roles run on the standard type-A permit from the voivodeship office. The simplified declaration (oświadczenie) route is limited to citizens of a short list of eastern neighbourhood countries, and India is not one of them. Planning around a route that is not available to Indian workers is the first mistake we see growers make.

Why Polish Growers Recruit From India

  • Many candidates grew up on family farms in Punjab, Haryana or Uttar Pradesh and are used to physical field work
  • Year-round contracts suit Indian workers, which helps greenhouse and mushroom operations keep trained pickers
  • Seasonal intakes are planned back from harvest dates, because visa queues in India will not shrink in June
  • Crews arrive with a supervisor who speaks their language, so instructions on the farm stay clear
  • Housing conditions and how pay is calculated are explained before departure, so expectations match on arrival

From Harvest Date to Field Crew

1
Choose the route for each role

Seasonal permit for harvest-bound work, type-A permit for year-round roles, with headcount and start dates counted back from the crop calendar.

2
Filing via praca.gov.pl

Seasonal applications go to the starosta, type-A applications to the voivodeship office. We prepare the candidate details and documents for both.

3
Selection and visa in India

Physical-fitness screening, video interviews and a frank briefing on conditions. Visas are applied for on the seasonal-work or national-visa basis, whichever the route requires.

4
Arrival, notification and farm induction

For seasonal workers the employer completes the arrival steps with the starosta. Housing, safety and hygiene induction take place before the first shift.

Pay, Conditions & Timeline

Seasonal farm work in Poland is usually paid hourly, at or above the statutory minimum hourly rate, which is revised each January. Harvest piece-rates often sit on top. Year-round greenhouse, mushroom and livestock roles typically pay around PLN 4,900–5,800 gross per month, with weekend supplements. Growers commonly provide on-farm housing, and any deduction for it must be agreed in writing.

Seasonal intakes need the longest lead time of any Polish requirement. File three to four months before the harvest so the permit and the visa queue are both behind you when the fruit ripens.

Figures are indicative market ranges and not a quotation; the signed service agreement governs. See our Terms & Conditions.

Employer FAQs

Can Indian workers use the oświadczenie route for farm work?

No. The declaration route is reserved for citizens of a small group of eastern neighbourhood countries, and India is not on that list. Indian seasonal workers need the seasonal work permit, and year-round workers need the type-A permit.

How long can a seasonal worker stay?

The seasonal permit covers up to nine months in a calendar year. Work that runs longer, or all year round, should be filed under the type-A route from the start.

What is the state fee for a seasonal permit?

Roughly PLN 100, the smallest fee in the Polish permit system. Recruitment, visa, travel and housing cost far more than the fee itself.

Can workers drive tractors?

Only once their driving entitlement for Poland has been confirmed for that individual. We check each case and do not promise tractor work until licensing is clear.
